Saudi-led coalition continues to detain new oil ships: YPC

SANAA, Dec. 18 (YPA) – Yemen’s Petroleum Company (YPC) confirmed on Sunday that the Saudi-led coalition has detained new oil ships and prevented them from reaching the port of Hodeida.

Essam al-Mutawakel, a spokesman of the YPC told Al-Masirah TV that seizing the fuel ships by the coalition is a continuation of maritime piracy that did not stop even under the armistice.

He pointed out that the piracy against the oil ships leads to fines for the detained ships, and this is reflected in the citizens.

Al-Mutawakil stressed that “the United Nations provides cover for maritime piracy on fuel ships.”

He called on the coalition to bring in ships of oil derivatives, blaming the coalition and United nations for the continuation of piracy and its repercussions.

Oil ships are constantly being detained despite obtaining licenses from the United Nations and subject to forced searches in Djibouti.
