SOCOTRA, July 23 (YPA) – Activists from the Yemeni archipelago of Socotra, located east of the Gulf of Aden, called on Wednesday for the protection of citizens from the dangers of “poisoned goodness” that perpetuates a long-term foreign presence on the island.
Activist Saeed Al-Rumaili Al-Socotri said, “Socotra’s experience with the Khalifa Foundation reveals the most dangerous forms of foreign interference,” adding that what he described as “soft interference” through Emirati humanitarian work aims to transform the population into docile tools in a long-term influence project.
Al-Socotri stated, “The Khalifa Foundation is not a humanitarian organization but rather a civilian cover for organized intelligence and military activity that serves the UAE’s illegitimate ambitions in Socotra.” He indicated that the UAE’s presence on the island gives its partners in “Israel” a sensitive foothold in global maritime corridors.
He considered what is happening in Socotra to pose a direct threat to Yemen’s sovereignty and national security, stressing the need for national and international action to expose the truth about foreign infiltration in the archipelago.
In a post on social media, the Socotra activist called on the Yemeni people to intervene urgently before Socotra turns into a foreign military base outside Yemeni sovereignty. This is to prevent Socotra from losing its identity under the cover of “poisoned goodness,” a reference to the UAE’s aid.
Companies owned by the UAE’s intelligence, including the “Eastern Triangle” company, are implementing a policy of starvation against the people of Socotra by controlling all basic services, including the sale of petroleum derivatives and domestic gas, in addition to various food commodities, amid an unprecedented catastrophic crisis across various sectors.
