Civil Defense in Gaza: Half of emergency services halted

GAZA, Nov. 27 (YPA) – The Civil Defense Authority in the Gaza Strip announced on Thursday that nearly 50% of its essential services have been disrupted due to a fuel shortage needed to operate vehicles, generators, and equipment, warning of a near-total collapse of emergency response capabilities across the Strip.

The Authority stated that rescue teams are now unable to reach thousands of damaged and dangerous buildings, emphasizing that search and recovery operations are at risk of complete halt if the fuel crisis continues, further endangering the lives of residents.

It also noted the disruption of a significant portion of firefighting operations and responses to explosions and collapses, in addition to severe difficulties in operating power generators within emergency centers and stations.

In a related context, the Civil Defense announced the recovery of an unidentified body from the Al-Alam roundabout area in Mawasi Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, indicating that investigations are underway to determine the victim’s identity and the circumstances of death.
