Pro-coalition “Parliament Speaker” attacks STC’s leader, calls for protest in Aden

ADEN, Oct. 30 (YPA) – The General People’s Congress (GPC) senior member and Speaker of the “Parliament” loyal to Saudi-led coalition, “Sultan Al-Barkani, on Thursday accused the President of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) and member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Aidarus Al-Zubaidi, of “destroying” efforts to convene the parliament’s meetings in Aden.

In an internal letter to members of the parliament members, Al-Barkani revealed that Al-Zubaidi is engaging in “deliberate” obstruction of the parliament’s meetings. He further indicated that the Leadership Council’s President, Rashad Al-Alimi, “does not hold the reins of any actual decision” in Aden and the southern governorates, where absolute authority is concentrated in Al-Zubaidi’s hands.

Al-Barkani also warned of “indicators of financial collapse,” complaining about the refusal of the Prime Minister, Salem Bin Breik, to reinforce the parliament’s financial account.

In an unprecedented move, Al-Barkani called on the parliament members to travel to Aden to organize a “protest vigil” in ‘Al-Aroodh’ Square, with the aim of “launching an appeal to the world” and exposing what he termed the “constitutional violations” committed by Al-Zubaidi and the Prime Minister.
