Ethiopia receives 12 Russian Su-35 fighter jets, expects S-400 air defense systems

TEHRAN, Oct. 29 (YPA) – Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Thursday that it had intercepted and destroyed an advanced MQ-1 drone over the eastern Strait of Hormuz, off the coast of Sirik in southern Iran.

In a statement, the IRGC’s Public Relations Department said the operation was carried out by the Aerospace Force’s advanced air defense system under the control of the national integrated air defense network.

The statement added that the drone was the 14th MQ-1 to have been intercepted and destroyed, according to the department.

The announcement comes amid military and security developments around the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic maritime corridor vital to global shipping and energy supplies.
