Gas tanker driver killed east of Marib; second tanker targeted in Abyan

MARIB / ABYAN, Oct.29 (YPA) – A driver transporting domestic gas, identified as Idris Mohammad Ahmad Al-Kdhi, was shot dead on Wednesday evening by unknown gunmen suspected of affiliation with the Islah Party loyal to Saudi Arabia on the Al-Ruwaik road in Al-Wadi district, east of Marib city, while en route to Aden.

The incident coincides with an armed tribal blockade imposed since Tuesday by groups calling themselves “Abnaa Kalfout” to prevent the transportation of oil derivatives and gas from Marib to the southern governorates. The groups had previously warned drivers against traveling to and from the Safer Company until Saudi-backed authorities address their demands regarding a dispute with an Islah-aligned military officer over land control in the Al-Irqeen area, threatening to target the Safer facility and public interests.

In a related context, a fuel tanker was attacked by unidentified gunmen on the Ahwar coastal road in Abyan Governorate, causing damage to the vehicle and a diesel spill. This attack follows the killing of businessman Ahmad Abdullah Al-Kathiri on the same road days earlier, amid persistent inaction from local Saudi-backed authorities.
