12,799 students, 598 teachers killed in Israeli aggression on Gaza

GAZA, Dec. 17 (YPA) – At least 12,799 students have been martyred and 20,942 others injured as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression since October 7, 2023, in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education said in a statement issued on Tuesday that more than 12,681 students were killed and 20,311 were injured in Gaza, while 118 students were killed, 631 were injured, in West Bank, with arresting 538 students.

The ministry also affirmed that 598 teachers and administrators since have been killed and 3,801 injured, with the arrest of more than 158 in the West Bank.

The statement pointed out the extent of the great destruction that affected educational facilities, as 425 government schools, universities and ministry buildings in Gaza have been bombed and destroyed, 171 of which are severely damaged and 77 are completely destroyed.

The damage also included 65 UNRWA schools in Gaza and 109 schools and 7 universities were stormed and vandalized in the West Bank.

The ministry added that about 788,000 students in the Gaza Strip are still deprived of education, in light of the ongoing aggression and the accompanying psychological trauma and harsh health conditions that threaten the future of an entire generation.
