SOCOTRA, June 1 (YPA) – A plane, carrying 30 tons of pharmaceutical aid and medical supplies, arrived on Thursday evening at airport of Socotra Archipelago in response to the serious consequences of Cyclone Mekono, the World Health Organization in Yemen said in a statement on its Facebook page.
Another plane, loaded with 12 tons of relief materials, also arrived at the airport of Socotra coming from Kuwaiti Red Crescent within the urgent plan to address the damage caused to the province by Cyclone Mekono, according to press sources.
According to the sources, Socatra airport has also received assistance from the World Food Program, including about a thousand boxes of food.
Cyclone Mekono hit Socotra last weekend, killing seven people and losing eight others, as well as 507 families were displaced and extensive destruction in the infrastructure.
