Saudi drone shot down over Yemen’s Ibb governorate

IBB, Aug. 27 (YPA) –  Activists on social media shared video footage early Thursday showing the moment a Saudi reconnaissance drone was shot down over Ibb Governorate in central Yemen.

Local sources reported the downing of a Saudi reconnaissance drone while flying over the governorate, though specific details regarding the operation and the type of aircraft remain unclear.

These developments come amid rising military tensions between Sanaa and Riyadh driven by a 12-year Saudi blockade and war on Yemen, alongside ongoing reports of Saudi incursions into Yemeni airspace.

An official statement from Sanaa’s military command is expected in the coming hours and could confirm the incident and provide further details, including the aircraft’s type and crash site, if the report is verified.

Sanaa’s military officials have repeatedly warned that continued violations of Yemeni airspace would be met with retaliation, maintaining that any escalation would be answered in kind.
