SANAA, Dec.5 (YPA) – Eighteen miners have died in a coal mine in Yongchuan in China’s southwest Chongqing on Friday, Xinhua news agency reported Saturday.
The accident occurred after carbon monoxide leaked.
China’s emergency has declared that one person has been successfully rescued and that rescue operations are still under way, local CGTN reported.
Twenty-four workers were dismantling the underground equipment after the mine was closed for more than two months. The authorities are investigating the causes of the incident.
Earlier, 16 people were reported killed in late September after carbon monoxide levels rose at the Songzhao coal mine in Chongqing.
