Fars: Commercial ships, oil tankers await Iranian Permission to cross Strait of Hormuz
TEHRAN, Sept. 03 (YPA) – Iran’s Fars News Agency reported that navigation through the Strait of Hormuz is subject to continuous control and monitoring by Iranian armed forces, contradicting US claims that Washington controls the strategic waterway.
According to the agency, commercial ships, oil tankers, and cargo ships await permission to cross from Iranian forces on both sides
The development comes after US President Donald Trump claimed that the Strait of Hormuz had come under US control.
Separately, the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that two oil tankers seeking to pass through an unauthorized route near the Strait of Hormuz were hit by mines and set on fire.
The tankers had been forced to disembark their crews and were placed in the hands of US operatives to pass through an “illegal route” in the strategic waterway, the IRGC said in a statement on Wednesday.
The IRGC added that its navy had previously warned about the dangers of passing through the mined passage, and in addition, double punishments have been foreseen for shipping companies that, instead of following the legal path, fall for the deception of the United States and leave their vessels at the disposal of the enemy, which will be implemented soon.
