GAZA, Jan. 10 (YPA) – Harsh weather and a deep winter storm sweeping across Palestine have intensified the suffering of the displaced population in the Gaza Strip.
In Beit Lahia, northern Gaza, a child was injured when a wall collapsed on him due to strong winds accompanying the storm, according to local sources.
Flooding has inundated tents sheltering displaced families in low-lying areas, while other tents were uprooted, forcing families, including children, to seek shelter outdoors in freezing conditions.
Displaced Palestinians are enduring extremely harsh conditions, living in tents made of thin nylon or fabric that provide minimal protection from rain and storms. Thousands remain in streets, playgrounds, public squares, and schools without adequate means of protection against the cold and severe weather.
The lack of fuel has further worsened the crisis, leaving families unable to secure any form of heating during the cold nights. Many are forced to take shelter in damaged, unstable buildings due to the widespread destruction of homes by Israeli forces and restrictions on the entry of prefabricated homes, construction materials, and reconstruction supplies.
