TEHRAN, Aug. 30 (YPA) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf refuted statements by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent regarding oil traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, denying that the United States escorted 130 million barrels of oil through the waterway over the past two weeks.
In a post on X, Ghalibaf stated that the US Treasury Secretary was “lying” about the transit of the 130 million barrels. His remarks came in response to Bessent’s claims that the US successfully moved that volume of oil through the strait in 14 days, while Iran shipped zero barrels during the same period.
Ghalibaf added that the true cost of war against Iran exceeds $130 billion, advising Bessent to examine US Treasury bond yields, which continue to rise.
