IRELAND, July04 (YPA) – The Irish government announced on Friday a new €4 million humanitarian aid package to support the education sector and public services in Palestine.
The declaration came amid the escalating catastrophic humanitarian conditions resulting from the ongoing Israeli aggression.
The Irish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the aid would be primarily allocated to support children’s education, adding that €3 million to be allocated to support the educational process, while €700,000 to be allocated to human rights organizations, in addition to €300,000 to support public services and the most needy Palestinian families.
Irish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Simon Harris emphasized in a statement that “supporting education in Palestine is a cornerstone of Ireland’s historic partnership with the Palestinian people”.
He noted that his country’s support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) to provide distance learning to more than 300,000 Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip to contiune.
In a related context, Harris stressed the importance of ongoing diplomatic efforts, considering that the next few days will represent a pivotal moment for reaching a ceasefire between “Israel” and Hamas.
He called on all parties to work seriously and with commitment to stop the war and end the worsening humanitarian suffering.
