New Saudi military reinforcements arrive at Aden

ADEN, May 08 (YPA) – New Saudi military reinforcements arrived on Thursday in the coalition-controlled city of Aden in southern Yemen.

Source familiar with the matter said the reinforcements, including almost 100 Saudi military vehicles, got at the Dera al-Watan (Homeland Shield)’s camp in Al-Shaab area, coming from Saudi Arabia via the Al-Wadiah border crossing.

The source affirmed that these reinforcements to in Aden and the Qishn district of Mahra province, eastern Yemen, were the second since the end of last April.

Local observers in Aden believe the continued deployment of Saudi military reinforcements to Aden, Mahra, and Hadramout comes within the context of the conflict between local actors loyal to Riyadh and Abu Dhabi.

They pointed out that Saudi movements since the establishment of Dera al-Watan forces in Aden in early 2023, parallel to the UAE-backed “Giants” factions, have been aimed at strengthening their presence in the coastal districts of Lahj overlooking the Bab al-Mandab Strait, following their control of the Al-Anad base last year, as well as to the eastern Yemeni provinces of Hadramout and Mahra.
