SHABWA, April 12 (YPA) – The Yemeni oil-rich Shabwa province, controlled by the UAE-backed factions, is facing a severe fuel crisis that threatens power outages, amid accusations that the Islah Party-affiliated authorities in Marib are deliberately obstructing the provision of diesel.
Hussein Al-Rifai, Shabwa’s media director, confirmed in a Facebook post that the province is suffering from a severe fuel shortage, despite instructions from the “Minister of Oil” in the Saudi-led coalition-affiliated government to provide 75,000 liters of diesel per day to the Ataq station and 17,500 liters to the Bayhan station since last March.
He pointed out that the Marib authorities have not adhered to the scheduled quotas, forcing Shabwa to rely on its resources during the holy month of Ramadan.
Al-Rifai added that the continued intransigence of the Islah authorities is pushing Shabwa to accelerate the construction of local oil refineries to end its dependence on the Islah party.
This escalation comes in light of repeated tensions between the parties loyal to the coalition that control the oil resources in the areas under their control, amid questions about the motives for the continued disruption of the flow of fuel from Marib to Shabwa.
