Clashes erupt between Saudi-backed factions, tribesmen in Mahra

MAHRA, Feb. 13 (YPA) – Clashes broke out, on Thursday, between Saudi-backed “Dera Al-Watan” factions and tribal gunmen in the Mahra Governorate in eastern Yemen, leaving several wounded.

A local source in the governorate reported that the fighting occurred between the extremist Salafi members and tribal fighters opposing foreign presence in the province , along the road between the areas of Nashton and Dhaboot, leaving casualties on both sides.

This comes after Saudi Arabia deployed ” Dera Al-Watan” factions, which were formed from extremist Salafi groups, amidst widespread rejection from the people of Mahra.

The people of Mahra accused Saudi Arabia of spreading security chaos and terrorism by deploying these factions.
