4.4 magnitude earthquake hits east of Gulf of Aden

DHAMAR, Sept. 16 (YPA) – The Seismological and Volcanological Observatory Center in Dhamar recorded a strong earthquake east of the Gulf of Aden early Wednesday.

Eng. Mohammed Hussein Al-Houthi, head of the center, confirmed that the 4.4 magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale occurred at 2:47 a.m. local time, positioned east of the Gulf of Aden.

Al-Houthi added that the quake occurred at a depth of 11 kilometers beneath the Earth’s surface.
