Financial official for UAE projects kidnapped in Abyan

ABYAN, May 23 (YPA) – A financial official for one of the projects implemented by the UAE, was kidnapped on Wednesday, along with his personal companion, in Abyan province, south of Yemen.

Local sources said a group of tribal militants, led by Ahmed Haidara, kidnapped, Wadih Taher, the director of the financial officer of the Hassan Dam project in Khanfar District and took them to an unknown destination.

In early June 2023, One of engineers’ car in the Hassan Dam project was looted at gunpoint by unknown gunmen.

The UAE deployed a military battalion from the factions of the so-called Third Infantry Brigade belonging to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council to protect and secure the equipment of the Hassan Dam project during the past year.
