HADRAMOUT, July 31 (YPA) – Dozens of citizens demonstrated, on Thursday, in the city of Seiyun, the center of Hadramout Valley districts, to protest the deteriorating living conditions and the continued power outages in various districts.
The demonstrators raised angry slogans demanding the improvement of basic services, holding the coalition-affiliated government and the local authorities in the governorate fully responsible for the collapse in services and living conditions that has exacerbated the suffering of the people.
The demonstration coincided with the continued implementation of partial civil disobedience in the city, where official institutions and shops have closed their doors over the past two days in denunciation of the catastrophic situation Hadramout has reached.
Various major cities in Hadramout, including Seiyun, Tarim, Shihr, and Mukalla, are witnessing angry protests for the fifth consecutive day.
They are demanding the provision of electricity and water services and a reduction in the rising prices of oil derivatives and consumer goods due to the loss of value of the local currency in the market.
The coalition-affiliated government did not pay any attention to the angry protests in Hadramout and to implementing their demands, as the conflict continued between the pro-UAE and pro-Saudi forces to control the oil-rich province.
