ABYAN, June 07 (YPA) – Pro-coalition authorities of Abyan province, south of Yemen, had released a commander accused of killing in the province, which may spark armed confrontations there.
Local sources in the province said on Wednesday that the commander of the UAE-backed factions in the so-called “Abyan axis,” Mukhtar al-Nubi al-Radfani, released on Tuesday the commander Abu Ali al-Shabwani, from one of prisons in the city of Zinjibar without trial.
In early April, Al-Shabwani was accused of running over security belt commander Saddam al-Salihi al-Maysari in early April with an armored vehicle, in Mudiya district.
The sources confirmed that the districts of Zinjibar and Mudiya “are witnessing tensions that warn of armed confrontations between the sons of Al-Saleh tribes, following the release of Al-Shabwani.
Al-Shabwani’s arrest came after violent confrontations during which Mudiya tribes took control of important sites belonging to the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militias present in the district since the announcement of so-called “Arms of the East” Operation in August of last year.
Saddam Al-Maysari was subjected to a run-over operation with the Emirati armored vehicle, after he objected to killing the citizen Ahmed Mohammed Tahbash and storming his house by members of the STC in Mudiya.
