MARIB, Aug. 26 (YPA) – Abdul Sami’ al-Sanani, an Al-Qaeda leader, known as the “Emir of Qifah”, was shot dead on Monday east of the coalition-controlled city of Marib.
Sources familiar with the matter said that Al-Sanani was killed by unidentified gunmen riding a motorbike, believed to be affiliated with Al-Qaeda, in the Al-Samdah area, where the group has established its headquarters in Wadi Ubaidah, east of Marib.
Al-Sanani was transferred to a hospital in Marib city for treatment, but later died as a result of the fatal injury he sustained.
He was considered one of Al-Qaeda’s most dangerous leaders and was described as the organization’s “black box”.
Al Qaeda and ISIS elements have taken up headquarters in Al Samdah in Wadi Ubaidah and various areas in Shabwa and Abyan after receiving painful military strikes from Sanaa forces that ended their presence in Bayda.
