Coalition disrupts all aspects of life by targeting Sanaa airport

SANAA, March 15 (YPA) – The Saudi-led coalition has disrupted Sanaa International Airport since the first raid in March 2015 until the signing of the armistice in April 2022.

Khaled Al-Shayef, a director general of Sanaa International Airport, confirmed in a news statement on Wednesday that the coalition disrupted all aspects of life at the airport, whether by targeting or bans and disruptions.

He explained that the coalition disrupted Sanaa airport in two stages after March 2015 by operating two restricted flights through the Saudi Bisha Airport, then completely closing in August 2016 until signing the armistice.

For his part, Ali Al-Aziri, an air traffic controller at Sanaa Airport, revealed, saying: “3 hours before the first raid of the coalition aircraft on the airport, we were surprised by the cancellation of Egyptian, Turkish and Jordanian flights, and this raised our doubts.”

“At 1:35 a.m. local time on March 26, 2015, we were surprised by the first raid on the runway of Sanaa airport, and the second on a warehouse, to completely shut down the airport,” Al-Aziri added.

In addition, Raed Jabal, a representative of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, explained that Sanaa airport is currently operating for the United Nations only, despite the great pressure from Yemenis in need of travel.

Jabal said that the UN envoy office’s operates 3 to 5 flights to Sanaa airport daily to transport its employees, while millions of Yemenis have only 3 flights per week.
