WORLD, Jan. 18 (YPA) – Moscow sees no obstacles to the implementation of the Pakistan Stream gas pipeline project and is working with Islamabad to develop a road map on it, Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov said.
Speaking in an in an interview with Pakistan’s The Nation newspaper, he said: the gas pipeline is of great importance for both Russia and Pakistan.
“The Russian government pays great attention to this issue. Nevertheless, the approach to the implementation of such projects should be comprehensive, which means not only the construction of the gas pipeline itself, but also the availability of a gas source for it. And now we are discussing the project both in terms of transporting regasified gas and pipeline gas – from Iran or via TAPI“, – said Shulginov.
He stressed that there are no serious obstacles to the implementation of the project.
From 18 to 20 January, Islamabad will host a new round of consultations within the framework of the Russian-Pakistani Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.
Shulginov will head the Russian delegation, while the Pakistani side will be headed by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ayaz Sadiq.
The negotiations are due to discuss ways to pay for energy resources, as well as transport and insurance costs.
