Islah artillery attack violates Saudi truce in Abyan

ABYAN, June 29 (YPA) – The Saudi-backed Islah militants waged an artillery attack against several sites of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias in Abyan province, violations the Saudi-run truce, sources said.

The sources said that the Islah artillery escalated its bombardment on the military areas of the STC in Al-Mahfed and Talil areas.

According to the sources, Islah artillery attack came after the STC militias killed and wounded several Islah militants in an armed ambush in the same area.

Meanwhile, Mohammad al-Naqib, a spokesman for the so-called “the STC militias, said in a tweet, “Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated militants continued their artillery shelling towards the STC positions in a flagrant and repeated breach of the ceasefire, blaming Saudi Arabia the attacks’ consequences o in light of its truce imposed in Abyan.

In the same context , leaders in the STC said that the artillery shelling by the Islah forces aimed at the failure of the Saudi committee in charge of the ceasefire in Abyan.
