SANAA, Jan. 20 (YPA) – Children in Yemen are living in the world’s worst humanitarian crisis due to the war in the country for nearly four years, save the Children said.
The only way to end this suffering is to end the conflict, the organization said in a report published Friday on its official website.
“It is shameful that national parliaments continue to give the green light to continue sales of military equipment to the Saudi-led coalition,” Tamer Kirolos, Save the Children’s Yemen Country Director said.
“Almost four years since the brutal conflict in Yemen has escalated, 14 million people are at risk of starvation, and this number has increased dramatically since the Saudi-led coalition imposed a blockade on Yemen in November 2017 ″,” he said,
“We are terrified that up to 85,000 children have died because of Extreme hunger since the beginning of the war, ” he added.
“While Western countries are providing assistance to Yemen to alleviate human suffering, on the one hand, they are selling weapons and equipment used in this conflict to kill, maim and starve children,” the organization said.
