Drunken ignites armed clashes in Aden

ADEN, Sept. 11 (YPA) – Armed clashes broke out on Tuesday between the southern transitional council’s militia loyal to the UAE and a drunken gunman in the southern city of Aden.

The clashes took place between the transitional council’s militia in the police station of Khor Maksar district with a drunken gunman after the latter fired indiscriminately at the citizens in al-Bat crossroads in the district, eye witnesses told Yemen Press Agency reporter.

The drunken gunman tried to throw a bomb at the militia as soon as they arrived after hearing the shooting, but he failed to detonate the bomb and was arrested and put in jail, the witnesses said.

They added that other gunmen arrived on board two cars and opened fired on the militia’s car, trying to raid the police station to take out their drunken friend from the jail, but they were all arrested.

No casualties were reported and the affiliation of the armed group was not identified.
