Saudi Arabia appoints brother of “Al-Qaeda” emir to command brigade in Abyan

ABYAN, Aug. 14 (YPA) – The Saudi “Special Committee” has assigned command of “the 15th Infantry Brigade” in Abyan Governorate to Jalal Abdul-Nabi, an Islah party loyalist and brother of a senior leader in the Al-Qaeda terrorist organization, promoting him to the rank of Brigadier General.

The Head of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, currently residing in the Saudi capital Riyadh, issued the appointment decree upon instructions from the “Special Committee.” The decision appoints Jalal Abdul-Nabi—brother of the group’s emir, Khalid Abdul-Nabi, who is reportedly wanted by US intelligence—as commander of the brigade in the “Abyan Axis.”

Jalal maintains direct ties with his brother, the emir known as “Abu Al-Basir Al-Yazidi,” as one of the leaders of the Al-Qaeda-affiliated “Aden-Abyan Army.”

The appointment was agreed upon via the Saudi “Special Committee” between Al-Alimi and Salafi leader Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami (known as “Abu Zara’a”), who was appointed by the UAE to command the “Al-Amaliqa Brigades” factions.
