Ambush targets Saudi-backed brigade commander in Shabwa

SHABWA, Aug. 11 (YPA) – A military commander affiliated with Saudi-backed forces survived an assassination attempt on Tuesday after his convoy came under heavy gunfire in Radfan’s coastal district of Rudhum, located in Yemen’s southeastern oil-rich province of Shabwa.

According to informed local sources, armed individuals believed to belong to Saudi-backed factions ambushed Ali Abubakar Al-Sulaymani, commander of the so-called ‘2nd Marine Infantry Brigade’, who is affiliated with the Islah party. The assailants opened heavy fire on his convoy near the health center in Bir Ali on the Arabian Sea during an inspection tour of several military checkpoints and positions in the area.

Details regarding Al-Sulaymani’s condition or potential casualties among his guards remain unconfirmed, amid escalating tension between rival factions and growing security instability across Shabwa’s districts.
