UAE center reveals suspects behind shelling STC positions in Dhalea

ADEN, Aug. 11 (YPA) – An Emirati research center has revealed serious details about the party involved in targeting positions of factions aligned with the Southern Transitional Council (STC) on the Dhalea front in central Yemen.

Khaled Al-Shumairi, head of the UAE-affiliated Political Studies Center, said in a post on X, citing a special source, that commander Wadie Al-Qubba fired several Katyusha rockets at positions belonging to STC forces on the Dhalea front, acting on instructions from Saudi military commanders.

Al-Shumairi said the purpose of the shelling was to blame the attacks on Sanaa forces and create the impression that they were responsible.

He added that Saudi efforts to push STC-aligned forces toward military escalation and confrontation with Sanaa had failed.

The report came after similar positions and camps affiliated with the STC in Shabwa, Karsh and Al-Anad were reportedly targeted by Saudi drones, in an effort to pressure the factions into joining the war against Sanaa forces.

STC-aligned forces announced last month that they would not engage in armed confrontations on behalf of Saudi Arabia, saying that the conflict between Riyadh and Sanaa forces did not concern them.

Meanwhile, hundreds of recruits from Saudi-backed Dera al-Watan forces from Yemen’s southern and eastern provinces reportedly defected from various fronts and returned to their home areas following missile strikes targeting Saudi-funded faction camps in Marib, Hadramout and Mocha area of Taiz.
