Initial images, footage document Saudi crime against civilians in central market in Taiz
TAIZ, Sept. 27 (YPA) – The military media of the Sanaa forces published on Sunday images and footage documenting the Saudi warplanes crime against civilians in At-Ta’iziyah District of Taiz Governorate northwest Yemen.
At least seven people were killed and 40 others injured, including children, in the Saudi airstrikes that targeted a central commercial market in Ma’awiyah junction in Taiz earlier today, according to initial reports from the Ministry of Health in Sanaa.
In an official statement, the Health Ministry condemned the attack, characterizing the targeting of civilian infrastructure as a violation of international humanitarian law.
Meanwhile, Brigadier General Yahya Sarie, military spokesperson for the Sanaa forces, reported that a formation of Saudi F-15 fighter jets departed from King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait around 11:00 a.m. local time heading toward Taiz.
According to Sarie, the aircraft carried out two strikes on the Ma’awiyah junction market at 11:29 a.m., resulting in nearly 50 casualties between dead and wounded. He added that the formation subsequently flew to Jawf Governorate, executing four airstrikes in the Khabb wa Sha’af District before returning to base at approximately 2:00 p.m.
