SANAA, July 15 (YPA) – Despite the escalating confrontation, Sanaa government sent on Wednesday a direct political message to Riyadh, saying the door to a political solution remains open but insisting that any return to negotiations must be based on a comprehensive settlement that guarantees the rights of the Yemeni people and ends the war and blockade.
Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs in the Sanaa government, Abdullah Sabri, said Saudi Arabia had delivered the final blow to the state of neither war nor peace, holding Riyadh responsible for the consequences of the current escalation.
Speaking to Al Mayadeen TV, Sabri said Yemen’s recent escalation is not limited to breaking the blockade on Sanaa International Airport but is part of a broader effort to end the war and lift the blockade in its entirety.
He argued that the prolonged no war, no peace situation had persisted for too long and accused Saudi Arabia of delaying political commitments and the rights of the Yemeni people while responding to Yemen’s legitimate steps with renewed military action.
Sabri stated that the first phase of breaking the blockade on Sanaa Airport had already begun and would not be the last, adding that the blockade would ultimately be lifted either through military means or a political settlement.
He stressed that political solutions remain possible, provided they are comprehensive and do not compromise the Yemeni people’s rights or return the country to the previous stalemate.
Sabri said the decision now rests with Saudi Arabia, presenting two options: a comprehensive settlement ending the aggression and blockade, or continued escalation and the emergence of new realities on the ground.
