Hamas marks first anniversary of Abu Obaida’s martyrdom

GAZA, Aug. 30 (YPA) – The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas said Sunday marks the first anniversary of the martyrdom of Hudhayfa Samir Abdallah al-Kahlout, known as Abu Obaida, the former spokesperson for the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades.

In a statement, Hamas said Abu Obaida’s presence and voice became closely associated with a pivotal period in the history of the Palestinian people, describing him as a figure whose words continued to resonate in the consciousness of an entire nation.

Hamas said Abu Obaida, recognized by his commanding voice and trademark red keffiyeh, became an icon of the Palestinian resistance who inspired millions across the whole world, adding that his distinctive voice left an enduring mark on the memory of an entire generation.

On August 30, 2025, Abu Obaida was killed alongside his wife and three children in what Hamas described as a “cowardly assassination,” bringing an end to a career marked by resistance and achievements that, Hamas said, helped shape the consciousness of Palestinians and future generations and strengthen their belief in resistance.
