Explosions reported on Iran’s Qeshm Island, Bandar Abbas, casualties confirmed

TEHRAN, July 12 (YPA) – Multiple explosions were heard late Sunday evening on Qeshm Island in southern Iran, according to Iranian state television.

Iran’s Fars News Agency reported that the blasts resounded in areas east of the port city of Bandar Abbas, as well as within the maritime zone of the Iranian island of Qeshm in the Persian Gulf. In a brief report published on its website, the agency noted that residents of the Mesen area in southern Qeshm heard several consecutive explosions.

While Fars News Agency did not immediately specify the source of the blasts, Iranian media outlets frequently attribute such incidents to US military strikes, citing historical patterns of American military engagements targeting various regions within Iran.

Meanwhile, the state-run IRNA news agency quoted the Governor of Qeshm, Hossein Amir Taimouri, stating that between 10 and 11 projectiles, which he described as fired by hostile forces, had struck Qeshm Island since Sunday afternoon.

Additionally, Mehr News Agency reported that one manager of a telecommunications company was killed and two of his companions were injured in the Hormozgan province as a result of the strikes, which local outlets attributed to a US attack.
