“Democratic Front” praises new Norwegian sanctions on Israeli settlers

RAMALLAH, June 12 (YPA) – The Boycott Department of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine welcomed Norway’s decision to join the European sanctions package against Israeli settlers and organizations involved in violations against Palestinians in the West Bank.

In a statement issued on Friday, the department considered the move an important development in the process of holding the settlement system accountable, reflecting a growing international awareness of the crimes committed by armed settlers under the protection of the occupation army and its government.

It explained that the sanctions include freezing assets and imposing travel bans on more than 20 settlers involved in violence and incitement, sending a message that “impunity is no longer acceptable.”

The department called on the world’s countries to build on the Norwegian position and expand the sanctions to include organizations and companies supporting settlements, and to impose measures on the occupation government to stop its policies that violate international law.

It affirmed that the boycott is a “struggle, moral, and legal tool” to pressure the occupation, end settlement activity and aggression, and enable the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination and establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
