STC-aligned military authority calls for escalation, march toward Ma’ashiq Palace in Aden on Wednesday
ADEN, July 27 (YPA) – The so-called “Supreme Military and Security Authority,” aligned with the “dissolved” UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), announced on Monday that it will organize an escalatory protest on Wednesday morning in front of Ma’ashiq Palace in the city of Aden.
The protest comes in response to what the authority described as a policy of “collective punishment” and the confiscation of the rights of military and security personnel by the Saudi-backed “guardianship government.”
According to a statement issued by the authority, this move is part of a comprehensive southern escalation against Saudi dominance and guardianship, triggered by the irregular payment of salaries and the cancellation of entitlements for four months since last April. This is in addition to delays in disbursing 16 months of overdue salaries for the years 2016, 2017, and 2020.
The authority demanded the following:
- Merging financial settlements with weekly and monthly salaries for all eligible personnel, rather than separating them.
- Granting deserved military ranks based on graduation batches, without extending the tenure of the judicial committee handling grievances.
- The immediate revocation of any decisions related to forced retirement amid deteriorating living conditions and low wages.
Furthermore, the statement denounced what it termed the “systematic exclusion” of military cadres and leaders from the southern governorates by the Ministers of Defense and Interior—who are loyal to the Islah Party—and their replacement with “Muslim Brotherhood” leaders.
Reaffirming its rejection of policies aimed at dismantling STC-affiliated factions, the authority called on military and security personnel, the “Southern Resistance,” and labor unions to participate en masse in the upcoming protest.
