Al-Alimi renames “First Presidential Protection Brigade, replaces commander to dismantle “Hadi’s influence”
ADEN, July 27 (YPA) – Rashad al-Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, prompted by the “Saudi Special Committee,” issued a decision renaming the “First Presidential Protection Brigade” to the “255th Infantry Brigade.”
The decree removed its commander, Sanad al-Rahwa, who had been in his post since 2012, and appointed leader Mukhtar al-Rabbash as the new brigade commander, stripping the unit of its presidential designation.
These changes come following the death of former President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi under house arrest in Riyadh last month. They represent the first practical steps toward severing the military brigade’s connection to Hadi and redistributing its personnel.
According to political observers, these measures fall within a broader plan aimed at dismantling the remaining “Presidential Protection” titles and factions in Aden and Abyan, integrating them under new designations to erase any trace of Hadi’s era and subject the forces to restructuring.
