Secrets and specifications of Thubab military airport according to US-Israeli hegemony map

SANAA, May 20 (YPA) – Media outlets loyal to Saudi Arabia have recently circulated information stating that the Ministry of Transport in the Saudi-backed government of “Shayea Al-Zindani” has taken over the Thubab military airport.

The airport was established by the UAE following the entry of the Yemeni Armed Forces into the naval support battle alongside the Palestinian people against the Zionist entity.

According to the circulated information, the ministry’s takeover of the military airport from the UAE-backed forces of “Tariq Saleh” reveals the extent of the latter’s involvement in implementing the Zionist project in the region. Furthermore, it highlights a major contradiction regarding the takeover of the airport, which has essentially been under the control of Saudi forces since last January, following the departure of Emirati forces from all bases and camps in the wake of the Hadramout events.

This indicates that the announcement of handing over the military airport to a civilian ministry demonstrates the continuation of the conspiracy to implement the US-Israeli project, after Saudi Arabia expelled its partner, the UAE, from the Saudi-led coalition at the end of last December.

The expulsion of the UAE from the coalition was nothing more than a repositioning and redistribution of roles among Washington’s allies. This came specifically after the convening of the so-called “Maritime Security Conference,” backed by Britain, in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, last September, which laid out the outlines for continuing the expansionist scheme under an international mantle through Saudi Arabia.

Specifications and Strategic Dimensions of the Airport

“Thubab” military airfield, mid-2025

The UAE established the Thubab military airport in early 2024 in a residentially and commercially isolated, closed area south of the Al-Amri camp in the Bani Al-Hakam sub-district of the Thubab district. The airport is located:

  • 2 km away from the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
  • Spans an area of 24.53 km².
  • Features a runway 2.50 km long and 40 meters wide—specifications designed for military transport aircraft and drones.

The airport is located at the coordinates (12.8751, 45.5118). It aims to establish Emirati-Israeli military control over international navigation in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, especially following the establishment of a similar military airport on Mayun Island (24 km from Thubab airport and 56 km from Mocha airport) by the factions of “Tariq Saleh”—the Emirati arm on Yemen’s western coasts—for the benefit of the American and Zionist enemy.

This step reflects clear escalatory intentions against Sanaa and confirms the continuation of the occupation and foreign expansion scheme in Yemeni islands and coasts.

Encirclement of the Arabian Peninsula

The Thubab military airport is part of a series of military bases and airports established by the UAE in partnership with the Israeli enemy in Mocha, and the islands of Mayun and Zuqar in the Red Sea, as well as the military base on Abd al-Kuri Island in the Socotra Archipelago, east of the Gulf of Aden.

This reveals the extent of the Zionist project’s implementation in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea to encircle the Arabian Peninsula and control the world’s most important shipping lanes.

Nevertheless, the US-Zionist project in the occupied territories has not stopped with the superficial replacement of the UAE by Saudi Arabia through extremist Salafi groups that offer even greater loyalty and devotion.

This comes after Abu Dhabi, over the past years, transformed these bases into espionage centers for the Israeli enemy, utilizing local tools controlling those areas to entrench the reality of the new occupation and ensure hegemony over global trade routes.

The “Yemen Press Agency” had previously published the first aerial photos and information regarding the creation of the Thubab military airport following its asphalt paving in early June 2025, south of the coastal city of Mocha near Bab al-Mandab.
