Sanaa warns Iraqi government of US-Saudi plot to stir sectarian discord

SANAA, Aug. 19 (YPA) –The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sanaa has affirmed Yemen’s support for the Iraqi people and their Islamic resistance, warning of Saudi attempts to sow discord among Iraqis by taking advantage of US cover and its ties with certain parties.

In a statement, the ministry called on the Iraqi government to heed the people’s legitimate demands and avoid being drawn into what it described as a US-Saudi scheme.

It warned against allowing disputes among Iraq’s various political and social components to escalate into violent confrontations, which would leave the Iraqi people as the only losers.

The statement noted that Iraqis still remember the scenes of suicide attacks that resulted in the deaths of thousands of Iraqis, accusing the United States of sponsoring them and Saudi Arabia of financing them.

The Foreign Ministry reaffirmed Yemen’s support for the Iraqi people and their Islamic resistance, which it said had helped liberate Iraq from extremist groups affiliated with US intelligence agencies.
