Report: Saudi-backed PLC member dies in Riyadh hospital amid information blackout

RIYADH, Aug. 19 (YPA) – A member of the Saudi-backed Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) had died at a hospital in Riyadh amid a strict information blackout over the reported death, political sources familiar with the matter said.

The head of the Abu Dhabi-based Center for Political Studies, Khaled Al-Shamiri, said in a post on X on Monday evening that one of the council’s members, headed by Rashad Al-Alimi, had died at a hospital in Riyadh, without disclosing the member’s identity.

He said Saudi authorities were making arrangements to announce the member’s death, while other sources speculated that the deceased was Tariq Saleh, following reports that he had been injured while at a military camp in the city of Mocha. Other activists, meanwhile, suggested that the member could be Othman Majali.

The reports sparked a wave of online speculation and questions, while no official statement or announcement has so far been issued by the Presidential Leadership Council confirming or denying the death of any of its members.
