OCCUPIED QUDS, Aug. 18 (YPA) – Israeli media have revealed the contents of a military assessment prepared by the Israeli army, drawing on Ukrainian battlefield experience in countering drones to develop methods for addressing drone threats from southern Lebanon.
According to the report, Ukrainian officers and commanders shared their experience in countering attack drones, with the lessons subsequently adapted to the specific characteristics of the Lebanese front.
The document reportedly recommended reducing reliance on certain exposed mortar and artillery positions, increasing the use of long-range artillery, and improving camouflage and protective measures. It also warned of advances in drones equipped with fiber-optic links and machine-vision technology, making them increasingly difficult to counter.
The document highlighted significant differences between the Ukrainian and Israeli experiences. Ukraine relies on the mass production of low-cost drones and employs them through more decentralized decision-making, while the Israeli military operates within a more centralized command-and-control structure.
The developments come amid Israeli reports that the military is moving toward producing around 100,000 attack drones annually and restructuring its ground forces to expand the role of drone and robotic units, in an effort to draw lessons from the Russia-Ukraine war and prepare for future conflicts.
