WASHINGTON, April. 16 (YPA) – The Wall Street Journal reported, citing informed sources, that the administration of US President Donald Trump held talks with automakers and other American industrial companies to discuss expanding their role in weapons production.
The newspaper explained that senior officials in the Department of Defense discussed with executives at companies such as General Motors and Ford Motor Company ways to contribute to the manufacture of weapons and military supplies.
It indicated that the talks, which began before the war on Iran, come as part of a broader trend by the administration to enhance the participation of the industrial sector, including automakers, in supporting military production.
In the same context, TomDispatch previously indicated that the United States possesses a limited stockpile of interceptor missiles, estimated at approximately 4,000 missiles, each costing around $12 million, amidst difficulties in producing them in large quantities and at a rapid pace.
