Iran is considering new law to manage Strait of Hormuz

TEHRAN, March 29 (YPA) – Iran’s parliament is currently reviewing a new draft law to manage the Strait of Hormuz, aimed at bolstering maritime security in the vital waterway, the deputy speaker of the Shura Council announced.

According to the official, the proposed bill introduces several regulatory and financial measures, including levies on environmental pollution and charges for maritime piloting services provided to vessels, and the creation of a dedicated fund to develop the area surrounding the strait, aimed at upgrading infrastructure and ensuring safe navigation.
