US Central Command announces arrival of ship “Tripoli” in Middle East

WASHINGTON, March 28 (YPA) – The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Saturday that Navy and Marine Corps troops aboard the ship “Tripoli” had arrived in the command’s area of responsibility.

In a statement posted on its X platform, CENTCOM added that the group comprises approximately 3,500 Marines and Navy personnel, along with transport aircraft and attack aircraft.

The statement continued, noting that the force accompanying the USS Tripoli includes amphibious assault capabilities and advanced tactical assets.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had previously stated that the United States seeks to destroy Iran’s naval capabilities, indicating that this is already happening, if it hasn’t already begun. He suggested that ongoing operations may have already commenced to achieve this objective.

Rubio added that this move comes as part of escalating pressure on Iran amid rising tensions in the Middle East, emphasizing Washington’s readiness to take decisive action against any threat to its interests or those of its allies in the region.
