Israeli occupation re-arrests those released in prisoner exchange deals

RAMALLAH, March 24 (YPA) – The Palestinian Prisoners Club stated in a statement issued on Tuesday that the Israeli occupation authorities continue to pursue released prisoners who were freed as part of the recent exchange deals, through repeated arrest campaigns and summonses.

The club has documented the recent detention of several released prisoners in the Qalqilya Governorate, including Sameh and Ammar Al-Shobaki, Said Diab, Saed Al-Fayed, and Hadi Jadua.

Records indicate that approximately 100 released prisoners have been re-detained since the exchange deals following the Gaza war. These individuals were among the 3,985 prisoners released during the “Tufan al-Ahrar” deal phases between 2023 and 2025.

The statement noted that these measures are supported by military orders and new legislation providing legal cover for targeting released individuals. The club characterized this as a breach of exchange terms and a reinforcement of the “revolving door” policy.

For their part, human rights organizations view these practices as an attempt to keep former prisoners under constant security pressure, rendering their freedom precarious.

Reports also indicate that some individuals and their families have faced threats and physical assaults during interrogation processes.
