Domestic gas crisis in Aden enters third week, exacerbating suffering of citizens

ADEN, Aug. 09 (YPA) – A severe shortage of domestic cooking gas and vehicular liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the city of Aden has entered its third consecutive week.

The crisis caused heavy congestion at filling stations, partial transportation paralysis, surging transit fares, and a expanding black market, alongside worsening living conditions and ongoing electricity and water crises.

Authorities affiliated with the Saudi-backed government attributed the shortage to tribal gunmen detaining gas tankers en route from Marib governorate.

Meanwhile, the Yemen Gas Company announced that operational obstacles have been resolved and that supplies are expected to resume shortly.
In response, local residents called for urgent intervention to regulate distribution, while restaurant owners warned that their operations could grind to a halt.

Citizens questioned the ongoing lack of oversight and demanded the resignation of the Saudi-backed government, citing its inability to provide basic services in territories under its control.
