France deploys amphibious helicopter carrier to Mediterranean Sea

PARIS, March. 08 (YPA) – France has deployed an amphibious helicopter carrier to the Mediterranean Sea amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following US and Israeli attacks on Iran and Tehran’s response.

Local media, citing the French General Staff, reported that “Tonnerre” was deployed to the Mediterranean to bolster the capabilities of the French armed forces against the backdrop of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.

On March 3, the French aircraft carrier “Charles de Gaulle” arrived in the Mediterranean on the orders of President Emmanuel Macron in response to the uncertainty in the Middle East.

In addition, France also sent its frigate “Languedoc” and its accompanying air defense elements to the Cypriot administration.
