2 militants killed, 4 others injured due to looting Saudi weapons shipments in Lahj

LAHJ, March. 08 (YPA) – Two militants were killed, on Saturday, and four others were wounded, in a looting operation targeted weapons shipments belonging to Saudi-backed forces in Radfan district of Lahj governorate, southern Yemen.

A statement issued by “Radfan Youth Council” confirmed that two trucks loaded with various weapons, including large quantities of pistols belonging to factions loyal to Riyadh, were coming from Aden when they were looted by some of the escorting security personnel in Haliyah area of Radfan.

The statement explained that armed clashes broke out between the elements tasked with protecting the shipment, resulting in the death of two and the injury of four others from the security detail, amidst a strict media blackout by the Saudi-backed forces regarding the incident.

The statement indicated that the clashes erupted without any intervention from the relevant authorities in Halimayn district, which reinforces the hypothesis of collusion or the complete inability of the forces that claim to control the area.

The council demanded an urgent and transparent investigation into the circumstances of the looting incident and the accountability of those involved, describing what happened as a serious security breakdown.

The statement did not mention who was behind the incident or the fate of the attackers of the two trucks. However, local sources and observers suggest that elements loyal to the “Southern Transitional Council,” which was dissolved by Saudi Arabia, were behind the operation, as part of settling scores with Saudi Arabia.
