SANAA, Jan. 22 (YPA) – Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi stated on Thursday that the “Saudi-led aggression coalition initially worked to seize control of Yemeni people’s sovereign and oil wealth and deprive them of it.”
In a speech marking the anniversary of the martyrdom of former President Saleh al-Sammad, the leader of Yemen’s Ansarullah movement stated that Yemen’s sovereign oil wealth has long represented the country’s largest source of revenue, traditionally used to fund public services and salary payments.
He noted that successive governments had depended on these resources to cover wages and essential services throughout previous periods.
Sayyed al-Houthi explained that the economic war imposed on the Yemeni people—depriving them of their sovereign wealth—along with various measures linked to the blockade, which continues to this day.
He pointed out that large areas of Yemeni territory are still under occupation, in addition to most of the islands and territorial waters, considering this a great injustice and aggression against the Yemeni people.
Leader Abdul-Malik pointed out that the aggression coalition not only occupied what it managed to control, but also sought to occupy Yemen completely to turn it into an occupied country and its people into a people under occupation.
He explained that if the Americans, the British, the Saudis succeed in imposing a comprehensive occupation on Yemen, they would work to exploit its strategic geographical location by establishing military bases and implementing projects that serve their ambitions and goals.
“If the aggression coalition were to succeed in occupying the country completely, it would plunder its vast untapped wealth,” Sayyed Al-Houthi said. “The enormous oil resources in Hadramout, Mahra, and other Yemeni provinces are a target of greed for the Americans, Israelis, British, and Saudis.”
Sayyed Al-Houthi concluded by emphasizing that “Yemen’s geographical location overlooking the Bab al-Mandeb Strait and the Arabian Sea is one of the reasons why the hateful, arrogant, and extremely greedy enemies are focused on achieving total control over our country.”
