ADEN, Jan. 22 (YPA) – Air defenses at the Saudi-led Coalition base in Aden city, southern Yemen, intercepted and shot down a drone over the city’s airspace on Thursday.
Sources report the drone, believed to belong to UAE-backed factions, was downed in the Al-Shaab area after flying over the Saudi-led Coalition headquarters in Al-Buraiqah.
The incident follows a sharp escalation in regional tensions after a car bombing on Wednesday targeted Salafi “Amaliqa Brigades” commander Hamdi Shukri al-Subaihi in Dar Sad area, resulting in casualties among his guards.
Pro-Saudi and pro-UAE factions have traded accusations over the assassination attempt, amid ongoing friction fueled by recent leaks regarding secret prisons and explosive devices linked to bases previously under UAE control.
